Calling all canoe paddlers, joyful singers, and history buffs! Follow in the tradition of the fur-trade era voyageurs and learn a few of the tunes they used to make their work more lively. We will sing in French, but no prior knowledge of the language is needed. If you can sing “Row your boat” in the shower, you have enough musical knowledge to join us. In the true tradition of folk music, we will keep our reliance on sheet music to a minimum.
About the instructor: LynnAnne Vesper is a fur trade history buff and has guided canoe trips in the Ely area for about 20 years. Before moving to Ely she lived the life of a Voyageur in Concordia Language Villages’ summer programs. LynnAnne studied French in college, including a semester in France. She is happy to share her knowledge of history and the French language. Register Here
