Weaving Birch Bark

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Learn how to prepare, handle, cut, and weave birch bark while making some lovely pieces. The flat mats make nice hot pads or placemats. The hearts are also decorative but can also serve as hot pads and include making basswood inner bark twine for hanging the ornament. John harvests all of the materials near his home in Grand Rapids. Participants can make one of each or several of one design. If you have a favorite knife, bring it along.
